SUGAR BEET

The technological line for sugar beet cultivation is based on the need to perform four basic operations. Sugar beet should be grown in deep soils, best is black earth, brown earth or alluvial soils. Sugar beet requires a carefully selected method of autumn soil cultivation, important for creating the proper soil environment (soil particle size, disruption of compacted layers) and subsequently for an easy development of roots and tubers.

1. STUBBLE CULTIVATION

Winter cereals, such as winter wheat, are a suitable catch crop for sugar beet. After harvesting wheat, we recommend performing shallow stubble cultivation to incorporate crop residue into soil, to control the growth of unwanted seeds, and to disrupt capillarity of soil moisture in the top soil layer.

CROP RESIDUE MANAGEMENT

Trash Cutter Roller.

Crop residue is an important source of organic matter, essential for increasing the quality of soil environment. To facilitate decomposition, we recommend crushing it using the Trash Cutter roller. The cutter is equipped with sharp, screw-shaped edges. The high circumferential speed guarantees an excellent cutting effect.

CUTTING AND MIXING CROP RESIDUE WITH SOIL

Aggressive “A” Discs.

The specially-shaped “A” discs offer a considerably better cutting and mixing effect when compared with standard discs. Their sectioned protrusions pick up soil and bring it into the crop rotary cutter where it is mixed with organic material. Excellent crop residue cutting contributes to lower nitrogen consumption in organic material decomposition.

2. DEEP TILLAGE (VERSION I)

We recommend performing in-depth cultivation of the field for sugar beet in autumn, using a chisel plough at a depth of 40 centimetres. It will ensure quality crop residue incorporation and its mixing with soil in the top layer, and disruption of hardened soil particles in the bottom layer.

DISRUPTION OF HARDENED LAYERS AND LOOSENING

Active-Mix Tines.

Active-Mix tines are recommended for use in autumn to incorporate organic matter, loosen soil and disrupt hardened layers in order to increase water permeability from higher soil layers to the lower ones. The specially-designed tines will perform such operation in high quality, cheaply and timely.

CLOD CRUMBLING AND SURFACE CLOSURE

Rear Spiked Roller.

The double-row rear spiked rollers contribute to disrupting and crumbling larger clods that freeze better in winter or dry faster in spring. The spiked rollers also contribute to levelling and compacting the cultivated surface.

2. DEEP TILLAGE (VERSION II)

TERRASTRIP ZN + COMBO SYSTEM CS

Strip-till cultivation with placement of attractive fertilizer into soil is a modern soil cultivation method for sugar beet. Soil is cultivated in strips with an inter-row distance of 45 cm, where fertilizer is then placed in a depth of 15-20 cm, making it better exploitable for the plant. The sowing of sugar beet continues in the following year with the use of satellite navigation into processed and loose strips.

TINES WITH APPLICATION END-PIECE

Active-Mix Tines.

The pointed angle of the working components allows easy access into the soil. The tines of the strip-line cultivator should be equipped with distribution end pieces for profile fertilization that considerably contribute to increasing the yield of tubers and higher sugar content.

APPLICATION OF TWO TYPES OF FERTILIZER

COMBO SYSTEM CS.

The double-chamber COMBO SYSTEM CS storage hopper enables to apply two types of fertilizer during in-depth cultivation, or using both chambers for one type of fertilizer. The fertilizer can be dispensed independently from the individual chambers according to pre-set batches.

3. SEEDBED PREPARATION (VERSION I)

Quality seedbed preparation is a prerequisite for creating conditions to achieve the required yield. We recommend processing soil in a depth of 2-3 cm. A firm subsoil with sufficient moisture and loosened topsoil need to be prepared for barley seeds.

PRECISE SOIL LEVELLING

Crushbar Leveller.

The hydraulically adjustable Crushbar leveller is a popular gear for seedbed cultivators. However, if you have performed in-depth soil cultivation, we recommend putting the leveller out of work, or setting a small working angle. The soil is nicely flattened after cultivation and after winter, so it does not need levelling. You will save up to 1 litre of Diesel per hectare.

A SPECIALLY DESIGNED SECTION

A share working section for sugar beet.

The SB share section is equipped with shares with a width of 170 mm that do not cause vertical mixing, but guarantee all-area soil undercutting with the option of very shallow cultivation. The shares prevent evaporation of spring moisture and create a precisely cultivated, aerated and warm seedbed.

CLOD CRUMBLING

Double-row Rear Crosskill Rollers.

Crosskill rollers guarantee a well-prepared field with a minimum amount of clods. Smaller clods on the soil surface protect soil from evaporation and water drainage, for example, in the case of sudden rain storms.

3. SEEDBED PREPARATION (VERSION II)

In addition to the standard seedbed cultivator, you can also use a universal cultivator in spring, which is equipped only with a rear packer. This design might be especially interesting for fields more prone to flooding, where soil cultivation can be done faster.

Shares with Wings.

We recommend performing spring cultivation at the maximum depth of 3 cm. For this operation, the tines should be equipped with 200 mm shares that guarantee excellent soil profile cultivation.

4. INTER-ROW CULTIVATION

During vegetation, we recommend performing inter-row cultivation in order to considerably increase vegetation conditions. Disrupting soil crust after rain means more air for the crop, which can continue growing without problems. In dry seasons, weeding creates an insulation layer and reduces evaporation. Weeding is indispensable for mechanical regulation of weeds, or for additional nutrient application.

ADAPTING TO THE STAGE AND SOIL CONDITIONS

Replaceable Sections.

In relation to the growth stage and type of soil, the inter-row cultivator can be adapted to the vegetation stage by easily replacing the working sections. The individual working sections can be equipped with sweeps, a combination of sweeps and chisels, or packing chisels with a mouldboard.

AUTOMATED GUIDANCE IN THE CROP

CultiCam.

CultiCam, a self-guidance camera, reads the row lines, transfers the information to the system that sends data to the control unit, which transmits signals for the movement of the hydraulic frame. The camera can guide working units from the very early stage of crop emergence and it considerably increases productivity and comfort of work.

MINERAL FERTILIZER APPLICATION

In combination with FERTI-BOX FB.

During vegetation, it is recommended to add essential nutrients to the crop by applying mineral fertilizer. For this operation, the inter-row cultivator is equipped with a fertilizer application set, with distribution leading from the front-mounted FERTI-BOX FB.
