WINTER OILSEED RAPE

The technological line for winter oilseed rape cultivation is based on the need to perform four basic operations. Winter rapeseed requires catch crop that is harvested early, and so barley is a good catch crop. A suitable field for winter oileseed rape is one that contains light, medium, clay-sandy and clayey soils. Considering the seeding term, winter oilseed rape requires a properly selected agricultural technology, above all, perfect incorporation of unwanted sees and sufficient precipitation after seeding.

1. STUBBLE CULTIVATION

swifterdisc xO_F

Cereals, such as barley or wheat, are suitable catch crops for winter oilseed rape. Immediately after harvesting barley, we recommend performing shallow stubble ploughing to incorporate crop residue into soil, to control the growth of unwanted seeds, and to disrupt capillarity of soil moisture in the top soil layer.

REVERSE SURFACE CLOSURE

Rear Packers.

The final surface closure plays an important role in the entire stubble cultivation process. The closure and compaction of the cultivated surface provides even emergence of unwanted seeds, weeds, and, above all, it contributes to the elimination of soil moisture evaporation.

CUTTING AND MIXING CROP RESIDUE WITH SOIL

Aggressive “A” Discs.

The specially-shaped “A” discs offer a considerably better cutting and mixing effect when compared with standard discs. Their sectioned protrusions pick up soil and bring it into the crop rotary cutter where it is mixed with organic material. Excellent crop residue cutting contributes to lower nitrogen consumption in organic material decomposition.

2. DEEP LOOSENING

ACTROS RO

Due to the lack of moisture and a short time frame, we recommend using a combined machine for incorporation of grown unwanted seeds and soil cultivation; such a machine cuts crop residue with large discs and mixes them with soil using tines in one pass. In one pass, you can perform several operations in a quality and efficient way.

CROP RESIDUE INCORPORATION

Serrated Discs 690×6 mm.

The incorporation of the catch crop residue and unwanted cereal seeds is very important in soil cultivation prior to seeding rapeseed. Cereal crop residue causes damage during oilseed rape germination and emergence. Two rows of serrated discs with a large diameter can cut and mix residues up to 18 cm in an excellent way.

DISRUPTION OF HARDENED LAYERS AND LOOSENING

Active-Mix Tines.

We recommend using the Active-Mix tines for intense soil cultivation up to a depth of 35 cm and disrupting hardened layers for easy access to water and air.

3. SEEDBED PREPARATION (AFTER PLOUGHING)

SWIFTER SO_F

A loosened top seedbed needs to be prepared for the small winter rapeseed, as seeds are placed in a depth of about 1 cm. When working, attention needs to be paid to clod formation as they would take water away from the seeds during emergence. Using a compactor after the previous combined cultivator is not necessary; we recommend using a seedbed cultivator after ploughing or in fields with large numbers of clods.

PRECISE SOIL LEVELLING

Crushbar Leveller.

The hydraulically adjustable Crushbar leveller is a popular gear for compactors. However, if you have performed in-depth soil cultivation, we recommend putting the leveller out of work, or setting a small working angle. The field does not need to be levelled off after good quality cultivation by a combined cultivator. Moreover, you can save up to 1 litre of Diesel per hectare.

A SPECIALLY DESIGNED SECTION

Working Section with Arrow Shares.

Arrow shares with a dimension of 270 mm, mounted in two rows, are recommended for use in summer soil cultivation. The soil is aggressively processed thanks to the working angle of the sweeps, creating a loosening top layer.

CLOD CRUMBLING

Double-Row Rear Crosskill Rollers.

The double-row rear Crosskill rollers are perfect for final clod crumbling and for creating a soil surface with minimum clods. The high circumferential speed of the rollers offers an excellent crumbling and crushing effect.

4. CROP ESTABLISHMENT

OMEGA OO_FL

To establish winter oilseed rape crop, we recommend using a universal seed drill with disc soil cultivation and a double-chamber hopper that allows you to also apply fertilizer while seeding (Amofos, potassium salt + magnesium fertilizer) or seeding the main crop in combination with an intermediate crop (winter oilseed rape + tare grass).

EXCELLENT SOIL STRUCTURE

Disc and Coulter Working Section.

In summer, the intense work of the front discs is very important. The discs loosen the soil well. The PROFI coulters increase disc efficiency, i.e., they process the clods disc by disc, cut up and press the remaining crop residue into the ground. This results in a well-established crop with excellent, uniform emergence in the whole field.

VARIABLE CROP ESTABLISHMENT

Double-Chamber Pressurized Hopper.

The double-chamber pressurized hopper of the seed drill can be used for variable crop establishment, for example, main crop with intermediate crop. This method helps eliminate erosion, development of weeds, diseases and pests, reduce the loss of nitrogen by drainage from seeding to the start of vegetation, or increase biological composition of the cultivator crops.

SEEDING WINTER OILSEED RAPE IN DOUBLE ROWS

A Specially-Designed Distribution Head.

The specially-designed distribution head allows seeding winter oilseed rape in double rows with a spacing of 25 cm and an inter-row width of 50 cm. Such an established crop optimizes the space for the development of the plant, increases the yield potential, and allows for its inter-row cultivation, or for seeding intermediate crop or providing supplementary fertilization.
